Math

Today we learned where the number Pi comes from.  The circumference is always approximately 3 times the diameter.  We measured a paper plate, a cup, and a carton of wipes.  Great job 6th grade:).

6 - 8 service project

This morning the 6th - 8th grades delivered the food items collected for our Chapel offerings to the Rice Depot.  We then spent the morning there doing a service project involving.....rice.  When finished we had bagged 456 ziplocs full of rice which we packed into 76 boxes which will feed 1,824 people.  Very proud of all of the kiddos.  A big thank you to all of the parents who went with us.

6th grade happenings

In science last week, the 6th grade made model landslides to determine the angle of repose.

Then this week we used the I-PADS to research famous floods in the U.S.  This followed our reading story this week about the Flood of 1993.

Chapel

Our project is growing.  Remember, we are collecting items for the Rice Depot for our Chapel offerings through October 8.  We still have plenty of time to bring items in.  The 6 - 8 grades will be delivering the items and doing a service project on October 10.  Watch for information to come home soon.

Welcome back!

Welcome back to school.  It was good to see many of you last night at Popsicles on the playground.  I am looking forward to a great 6th grade year and I'll see all of you bright and early Wednesday morning.  Have a great weekend:)

A couple of dates:
Chapel will be tomorrow morning at 8:10.  Hope to see you there:).

5:45 P.M. August 26 - there will be a 6th grade parent meeting in the classroom.  I will have information on our Outdoor Ed trip October 13 & 14.  The first PALS meeting/ open house is at 6:30 that night so you won't have to come back on a different night.
